La serie Sorensen XDL representan la "próxima generación" de fuentes de poder de laboratorio de lato desempeño. Las XDL proveen multiples rangos para incrementar la salida de corriente cuando se usa menos votaje. Estas fuentes usan tecnologia lineal pura. En contraste con otras unidades controladas digitalmente, la serie XDL de Sorensen tiene control numerico y control rotatorio (ambos). La pantalla y el teclado se iluminan con leyendas que proveen informacion al instante de la configuracion y el estatus de la fuente.

Para mayor conveniencia esta serie tiene la capacidad de guardar en memoria no volatil hasta 10 configuraciones (30 para las de salida triple). Se tienen controles de sobre-voltaje y sobre-corriente.

La serie XDL tiene también capacidad de sensado remoto de voltaje, con terminales dedicadas para sensar la salida de manera remota.

El modelo XDL de salida triple ofrece funcionalidades para enlazar las dos salidas de la fuente de manera simultanea. Cuando estan enlazadas el teclado y la perilla rotatoria opera ambas salidas de manera simultanea para las salidas 1 y 2.

Output Protection and Metering

Output protection

Output will withstand forward voltages of up to 20 V above rated output voltage. Reverse protection by diode clamp for current up to 3 A

Fault condition trip

The output will be shut down if any of the four trip conditions listed below occur. In addition to the output eing set Off, an isolated rear panel signal is also activated.

Over voltage (OVP)

Settable 1V to 40 V in 0.1 V steps

Over current (OCP)

Settable 0.1 A to 5.5 A in 0.01 A steps

Over temperature

Monitors internal temperature rise to protect against excess ambient temperature or blocked ventilation slots

Output voltage

Response time varies with range and load conditions. Typical time to settle to within 1% of the total excursion on a 35 V / 3 A range with full load is <25 ms. With no load it is <7 ms for an upward charge and < 600 ms for downward.
